JOOTA AWARDS 2026 – About the Judging
The JOOTA AWARDS 2026 judging sessions take place from late May through late June.
Each olive oil entry is assigned a secret code number by a lawyer appointed by the organizer to ensure anonymity. The Quality Awards and Special Awards judges, appointed by the Executive Committee, then conduct blind tastings and evaluations of extra virgin olive oils from around the world.
Quality Awards – A Prestigious Stage Where the World’s Finest Oils Compete
Outstanding extra virgin olive oils from around the world showcased their unique character and individuality, resulting in another year of intense competition in which the smallest differences influenced the final evaluations.
With even the slightest sensory characteristics being rigorously assessed, oils representing the highest levels of quality in the world were selected.
The Quality Awards are presented in five categories: four categories based on fruitiness and the intensity of fruitiness, and one category dedicated to extra virgin olive oils produced in Japan. Within each category, the highest-ranking oils are awarded the Diamond, Gold, and Silver distinctions.
In addition, the Best Award is presented to the most outstanding product in each of the following categories: Monovarietal Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Best by Country (when conditions are met).
Judging for the Quality Awards is conducted by internationally recognized olive oil quality assessment experts, including officially accredited olive oil tasters and panel leaders, as well as experts from IOC-recognized panels and laboratories.
